Monthly Devotion:

Lydia Volz, Jehovah Lutheran Church

‘Behold, I make all things new’. Revelation 21:5

As spring takes its hold on the world around us, we see the many signs of new life; tender blades of green grass, tiny flowers in the lawn and on the garden edges, the return of bird songs, the feel of the sun on our skin, and tender leaflets appearing on brown and dormant tree branches.

To us it is a visual reminder and physical experiencing of the ultimate new birth promised and completed by Christ in His resurrection from the dead. Through Him, we are no longer dormant but alive and vibrant in Christ. Filled with the power of the Holy Spirit, our lives are renewed daily in the baptismal promise, "You are a child of God, forever”, until that final time when we experience the promise given by God to be with Him.

Great God, you sent your son to live with us, to die for us, that we might live eternally. Thank you for your love. Forgive us for allowing our fears and weaknesses to keep us dormant. Renew us with the power of your Spirit so that we may share that joy with those we serve and care for.

We pray in the name of our risen Lord, Jesus the Christ.

We encourage Parish Nurses to submit devotions of 200-300 words written specifically with Parish Nurses in mind. Please email them to mjhallberg@gloriadeistpaul.org or ktreat@luthersem.edu. The Communications Committee selects those printed.
